«Nodo50. Error en el sistema» es un relato del viaje que emprendimos en julio de 2011 para trasladar nuestros servidores de XS4ALL en Amsterdam al centro de datos de Bahnhof en Estocolmo.

A principios de 2011 la asamblea de Nodo50 empieza a valorar mudar sus servidores a un nuevo centro de datos, Bahnhof, en Suecia. De aquellos trabajos de planificación previa, para llevar a cabo la operación con las menores molestias posibles a los usuarios y las mayores medidas de seguridad, nace la idea de un viaje en furgoneta:
Madrid-Amsterdam-Estocolmo-Madrid. Era la única forma de no perder en
ningún momento el control sobre los datos.
La fecha del viaje se acerca, aumentan las reuniones y el trabajo
preparatorio. En algún momento alguien sugiere que estaría bien
documentar el viaje, grabar en vídeo los 13 días programados.
El primer día de julio de 2011 partimos, en las maletas metimos una cámara.
Lo que ahora presentamos, en 20 minutos de documental, son el resultado
de trabajar con más de una docena de horas de grabación, con dos
extensos diálogos con el fundador y con el director de Bahnhof, nuestro
nuevo proveedor.
Esperamos que “Nodo50. Error en el sistema” sirva para compartir los
motivos políticos y técnicos que nos llevaron a emprender este viaje.
A partir de enero realizaremos proyecciones del documental, os avisaremos.

«Nodo50, System Error» is a documentary of the trip we started in July
2011 to move our servers from XS4ALL in Amsterdam to Stockholm.

At the beginning of 2011, the Assembly of Nodo50 started to consider to
move their servers to a new data center, Bahnhof, in Sweden. The idea of
a road trip was conceived during the initial brainstorming in how to
minimize the downtime of the service and guarantee the safety of the data.
A trip by van: Madrid-Amsterdam-Stockholm-Madrid was the only way to
never loose control of the data.
As the day of the trip approaches, the preparatory meetings and the
intensive work sessions became routine. At some point, someone suggested
the idea of documenting by video the 13 days planned for the trip.
The first of July 2011, we left Madrid, in our luggage we packed a camera.
Today, we present, a 20 minutes documentary out of a dozen hours of
video recording. The documentary includes a summary of the two
interviews with the founder and the chairman of our new hosting
provider: Bahnhof.
We hope that «Nodo50, System Error» manages to share our political and
technical motivation to start this trip.
